V was a TV series about aliens start a false allience with earth, people are diserpearing, they are either being torchered or being kept in storage ready to be eaten.
The aliens discease themselves to look human, the show is also what started of hybrid breeding between humans and aliens in Sci-fi shows.
The show came out in the 70s or 80s, the show seemed to be bewond its time (meaning it didn't seem like it was made from that time) ,the show has plenty of action.

Ahh, one of my all-time favourite shows! (alongside Primeval and Vampire High. ). I was just a kid when it came out and it was terrifying (at the time - though very tame and a little dated now) yet I loved it all the same. Still do, in fact. Every now and then, I get the VHS tapes out and rewatch it - I'm aiming to get them all on DVD sometime soon.
Okay, first came "V: The original miniseries" first shown in...possibly 1983 or 1984, is memory serves. The premised is, alien spacecraft begin appearing over every major city in the world. Once all are in place, and unnervign the population in the process, a countdown begins - in the native language of the country they are in. The countdown ends and a voice announces that the aliens come in peace and wish to meet with the leader of the United Nations. The meeting is arranged and the alien leader is revealed. He looks human, though he is inhumanly sensitive to bright light and speaks with a little reverberation in his voice. Other than that, he could pass for human. The Visitors ask for help in securing a chemical which will save their dying world. In return, they say they intend to share their vast knowledge with humanity. Good deal, right? Nope. As Rayosaurus said, scientists and biologists begin disappearing or disappearing and reappearing to announce that there is a conspiracy to harm the visitors by their fellow scientists - prompting those scientific types left to wonder why such things are happening. What do the Visitors have to fear from them? The Visitors subtly, piece by piece, take over the government, hijack television signals and spread their own form of propaganda to masses. The persecuted scientists, doctors, police (they are being forced to comply with the Visitor's new rules as they declare martial law, or be shot as traitors) and others who know the visitors' true appearance and motives, band together and for The Resistance.
"V: the Final Battle", broadcast in around 1985, picks up a little way down the line as the Resistance is still fighting for their survival and the few small victories they can muster. With the help of a rogue military type (Give it up for Ham Tyler, folks! What a brilliant character he is! I lurve Michael Ironside!) they begin making an impact on the Visitor's stranglehold on humanity and a daring plan reveal the Visitors true natures to the world....
Then, a little later, came the 19-part TV series. Set one year after the Visitors were "defeated", our alien enemies return and the remaining Resistance fighters once again band together to save the world. To be honest, the series wasn't as good as the two mini-series', perhaps a little strained and stretching the premise beyond its limits. And, sadly, it was not finished. The end of episode 19 simply leaves the story hanging, though by that time, there are so few characters that appeal that you don't mind too much.
Ahh...but fond memories of the show all the same. Umm....I got carried away there, didn't I? Sorry folks. I'll shush up now. Dodo.

Hmm... I'm probably biased (probably?! hah!) with my love of the original, but I reckon they'd destroy the appeal of the original if they remade/upgraded it. I mean, look what they did to "War Of The Worlds". The original film was not perfect, I'll grant you, but it had a classic appeal (ie, its a bit dated now but it was cool! *lol*) which just sort of flew out of the window with Tom Cruise's version - if you see what I mean? Though, admittedly, it was a different take on the plot, just not necessarily better.
To be fair, "V" was already let down by the 19-parter anyway and thats not stopped the first two miniseries' being cult hits for twenty years or more, has it? Maybe a new movie or miniseries might spruce it up a bit - it'd have to be sympathetic to the original. The last lot of episodes ended so abruptly, its possible it could be picked up years down the line - Oh, I really don't know if it would be a good idea or not.
There was talk a couple of years ago by the original's creator about reviving the series, with the same actors, but that wouldn't work very well, I think. Its all such a long time ago for them now, and they've all gone on to other things so why would they want to come back? Could they come back and rekindle the spark between the characters and everything?
And there's the other school of thought...its pretty much an idea thats been done to death for the time being in Hollywood, the whole alien invasion plot device. Most recently, "Independence Day" did it to brilliant dramatic effect - in fact some of the first half was probably inspired by "V" - the immense alien spaceships hanging ominously over the world capitals etc.
Meh, I'm torn now! You're a lil sneak, Jon! *lol* Dodo.

I see what you mean about spoiling things. The original did have great charm, but it is a bit dated

Ooh! I've not heard anything about a new "V"-related book! I'll have to have a look around for information on this unless you can share a link to your source, Ray?
There is a fair collection of tie-ins with the old series. I'm only missing about three titles from the entire tie-in book collection (which I forgot about - cheers for reminding me, Ray.) Dodo.

Ooh, an October release for the book? It looks like that might be one to get, especially since its by the show's original author/creator, Kenneth Johnson! And it promises to be a true conclusion to the premise instead of the muddled, muddied "ending" we've been left with so far - so its a must get, methinks. *lol*
Cheers, Ray, for the links and information! I'm pre-ordering it as we speak.
And on a side-note, if anyone is interested in purchasing the 19-parter here's the link:
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00023BKMC/ref=pd_thx_sims_1/203-1482876-9212715
Its on sale (as a region 1 DVD so you'll need a mulitorgion DVD player, folks) at Amazon, for about £17 minus postage and packing, so thats not bad. I'll have to save up for them, then. *lol* Dodo.
