Some of you may remember 1992's 'Ghostwatch' and the 'panic' it caused around Britain. Perhaps there are a few of you who know of 'Science Report: Alternative 3' from 1977. But, the mother of all media hoaxes was of course Orson Welles' 1938 radio version of The War of The Worlds, said to have caused mass panic and hysteria in north eastern USA as people who tuned thought the Martians really were invading. And this halloween is the seventieth anniversary of that event. If you've never heard it, or if you don't listen to radio, then never fear because the first Act of the play has been brought to life in puppet form:
