It's time to rant about movies and/or moments in movies that really ticked you off!
Just recently I've been getting back into Jurassic Park, and just today I tried making a fan edit of Jurassic Park 3, and for some reason I couldn't bring myself further into the movie, it was a mixture of the disgust at how quick the movie goes by (it's barely an hour into the film and we already see the antagonists), the complete disregard for what was established in The Lost World: Jurassic Park (a perfect equilibrium, no chaos at all) and Jurassic Park (theme park monsters? Seriously?). There are many other things about the film that some may consider trivial, like the sudden change in the environment of Isla Sorna (the island in the second film), all of a sudden a strange, dark, mysterious island covered in red wood and palm trees looks exactly like the island from the first film (Isla Nublar). And now there are WAY too many predators on the island: Spinosaurs, Ceratosaurus, Super-Dooper-Velociraptors and Tyrannosaurus. I have no problem with the introduction of the new herbivores, though. Another huge thing that bugged me was the rapid evolution of the Velociraptors, and the big hole where Alan Grant has a nightmare about a male raptor (he never even saw a male Velociraptor, since all dinosaurs in the first Jurassic Park film were female), and the ridiculousness of the face off between the T-Rex and the Spinosaurus, good Gpd! No regard for scientific facts! I know that the Dilophosaurus was greatly exaggerated, but seriously there was no need to replace the T-Rex as apex predator if the film was just going to focus on Super-Raptors? While I think the Spinosaurus is a marvelous looking creature, and was well designed in the film, I felt it was an unnecessary addition, much like the Super-Raptors and the Super-Pteranodons. On the subject of Super-Pteranodons did they not see the ending of The Lost World: Jurassic Park? All the Pteranodons were roaming freely and stayed within the island's boundaries, but in JP3 they're caged up (and some how were able to eat large prey). Lastly these Super-Pterosaurs were so vicious that they wanted to eat the protagonists, but how come at the end of the film *SPOILERS Highlight to read*they're all happy and not crapping themselves that Super-Pteranodons are flying away from the island!?
Admittedly I did like it at first, but along the way after the third or fourth time I watched I realised that it was just... Wrong. I never took note of the inconsistencies at first, but I guess this was the first film to bring the nerd out in me. The film is not all that bad, the computer graphic effects were still impressive and so was Stan Winston's animatronics.
That was a load off my chest.
