Okay, new game.
Put yourself in Abby's and Connor's shoes, you are going to be stuck in time for a year (whether you bring along your own nerd or reptile expert is up to you). The difference is that you have a way to get rescued after a year has passed, and you have Hellen's gadget, which let's you choose when and where you'll be stuck.
Since this is a TV-gadget it doesn't allow answers like "yesterday, two blocks from my house", "ones the warp drive has been invented", "in the Andromeda galaxy" and "before the beginning of time", so standard primeval time travel rules really.
Also, you are allowed to think about how dangerous certain times and places are, but you are not allowed to think about it too much, because you'll end up giving an answer like "before animals came onto dry land". Try to think a bit like your life is an action movie, and you really want to learn something about prehistory.
Given those limitations, where would you go?
I'd personally like to take a look in Argentina, 230 MYA. Ten million years before the first episode of Walking with dinosaurs, and on the other side of the great mountain ridge that divides Pangea. I'll have to make do with a little less oxygen than I'm used to, and a dryer surrounding, but at least I'll be running from the likes of Herrerasaurus (raptor size, hopefully not too many of those), Eoraptor (I bet they taste like chicken) and Saurosuchus (8 meters of angry land crocodile). Too bad those conifers are so bad for climbing, ah well, I'll just find another safe place. It might well be one of the latest times you can reasonably try to survive in until the end of the Cretaceous.
So, what's your choice?
